A planned blockade of a provincial highway in Manitoba has been cancelled.
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs says the Lake Manitoba First Nation has reached a resolution with the federal government over flood concerns, but didn't release details.
Band officials say they are now confident their homes and community will be well protected from the high levels of water in Lake Manitoba.
Parts of the province have been deluged with rain in recent days, intensifying the chances of a flood along the shores of the province's largest lakes.
Grand Chief Derek Nepinak says it's said the government has to be threatened with a blockade "to hear the voices of First Nations leadership to resolve outstanding issues."
The band had been threatening to blockade Highway 68.
