The Manitoba government is putting another $30 million into shops classrooms in the province's schools.

The new or renovated spaces provide teens training for jobs in everything from broadcasting to plumbing.

Education Minister James Allum said Thursday that vocational education is something parents have asked for.

"So when we invest in new shops, we give children the opportunity, our students the opportunity, to get their first year of apprenticeship before they even leave high school," said Allum.

He said the first $30 million in funding announced in 2014 provided 19 new projects in 17 schools across Manitoba.
