A Manitoba RCMP officer has been charged with assault.
The province's Independent Investigation Unit started investigating in August after a person involved in a relationship with the officer went to hospital in The Pas with a broken rib.
The unit investigates all matters involving police officers, whether they occurred on and off-duty.
In this case, it decided there were reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence occurred.
Cpl. Gordon Lethbridge is to appear in court in The Pas on Nov. 30.
