A fire has heavily damaged a landmark hotel in Dauphin, Man.
The blaze broke out early Thursday morning in the Towers Hotel on the community's main street.
RCMP say one person is in custody but so far no charges have been laid. No one was hurt.
A number of long-term residents of the three-storey structure were given shelter at the Dauphin Friendship Centre.
"They're upset," said centre president Susie Seacourt. "They've lost everything they had. But they're really sort of rallying around each other. They're helping each other out. We've had a lot of donations from the community in terms of bedding and clothing and food."
She said people have even been bringing in dog food to feed the four companion animals that belong to residents of the hotel.
Seacourt said the Canadian Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter where residents were to stay Thursday night.
The fire department from Gilbert Plains, west of Dauphin, helped local firefighters battle the blaze.
Crews brought in a backhoe to tear down part of the hotel so they could get the fire completely out and protect neighbouring buildings.
