Police cadets got an unexpected surprise while helping a man in medical distress in downtown Winnipeg.
Officials say cadets came across the man having a medical emergency in the 300 block of Portage Avenue on Tuesday around 5:40 p.m.
While helping him, cadets found he had ammunition and a handgun.
Police say the firearm was previously stolen in Winnipeg in September 2015.
A 36-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with several firearm-related offences.
