Winnipeg police have made an arrest in one weekend homicide and continue to investigate a second.

Police say a patrol unit noticed a number of people in front of a downtown home early Saturday.

When officers stopped to investigate, they found a woman dead on the front porch.

Police say the victim is Marilyn Oshawee, who was 37.

Fanisha Peebles, who is 28, has been charged with manslaughter.

Police continue to investigate the death of a man found in the front yard of a north end home on Sunday evening.

William George Sumner, who was 27, was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information is asked to call Winnipeg police.

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. An earlier version misspelled Sumner's last name as provided by Winnipeg police.
