Winnipeg police are warning the public about two people who are going the city pretending to be undercover officers.
They say real officers who are in plain clothes will have an official badge affixed to their belt directly in front of their sidearm.
They also say police vehicles that would be involved in traffic stops will have a combination of red and blue coloured flashing lights, located on either the roof of the vehicle, or mounted behind the front windshield by the rear-view mirror.
Also, police say flashing white lights may be located within the front grill.
Police are advising that people should ask to see credentials and identification of anyone acting in an official capacity.
All officers are required to carry a badge and a warrant card to identify themselves as police officers.
