A Winnipeg woman died in a boat crash on the St. Clair River near Detroit on the long weekend.

Police in St. Clair County, Mich., confirm that Nancy Axford, who was 68, was one of two people killed when a power boat struck a larger cabin cruiser broadside.

The power boat ended up riding up over the other boat and knocked one person into the St. Clair River.

Three others were taken to hospital.

The 32-year-old U.S. man operating the speedboat boat has been arrested and is facing alcohol-related charges.
