A Canadian warship is on its way to the Caribbean to join a multi-national campaign against trafficking and organized crime.

HMCS Athabaskan departed Halifax on Sunday and will start its work later this month.

It's the sixth Canadian warship to take part in Operation Caribbe this year.

A news release from the navy didn't say how long the Athabaskan would be deployed for.
