Radio-Canada is reporting one of the young men believed to have fled Canada to fight for extremists groups in the Middle East has died.
The CBC's French-language network says the parents of the man received a call three weeks ago from a woman speaking in Arabic saying their son died in Iraq.
The young man, whose identity was not revealed our of respect for his family, was a student at Montreal's College de Maisonneuve.
Montreal police have said several students from that school have gone to the Middle East to fight for Islamic extremist groups.
Radio-Canada reports that according to sources, the RCMP is taking the news seriously but the force cannot confirm the young man's death without more evidence.
