A second-degree murder charge has been laid against a teenage boy who is suspected of killing a 17-year-old girl in Whitehorse.
Brandy Vittrekwa was found dead on a walking trail in a city subdivision the night of Dec. 8, 2014.
Police said the youth was arrested Dec. 11 but he was not charged at the time with Vittrekwa's death.
They said he remained in custody for unrelated offences.
The boy, who can't be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared in territorial court Wednesday. (Whitehorse Star)
