A woman is recovering from a single-gunshot wound in a Whitehorse hospital after a drive-by shooting in the city's downtown.

Police say the 21-year-old was walking with a man just before midnight Thursday when the shot was fired from a moving van.

The man was not injured, but the RCMP says the woman was hit once and is now in stable condition.

Police have not released her name but say they do not believe the shooting was random.

An image captured by a security camera appears to show a dark-coloured van in the parking lot of the Yukon Inn.

Police say they are still trying to determine the vehicle's make and model and are asking anybody with information to call them. (Whitehorse Star, CKRW)
