Seven people are charged with drug and gun offences following a three-month Ottawa police investigation into an alleged drug ring supplying northern Ontario.

Over the course of the investigation police say six handguns, three submachine-guns, a long gun and 2,000 rounds of ammunition were seized, along with two vehicles, $85,000 in cash and quantities of various drugs.

They say five of the accused were arrested on Wednesday and warrants have been issued for two others.

Investigators allege the accused are part of a ring that was supplying northern Ontario locations with drugs from Ottawa and Toronto.

They say provincial police in the Nipigon, Ont., area charged two Ottawa residents in relation to the investigation last week.

The seven accused in Ottawa range in age from 22 to 31 and face more than 75 charges including, drug trafficking, possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon, and possession of weapon dangerous to the public.

Police say arrest warrants have been issued for 26-year-old Khalilulah Iriken and 24-year-old Alan MacDonald, both of Ottawa.

They say MacDonald is believed to be in the Toronto area and caution that both Iriken and MacDonald should be considered armed and dangerous.
