An Alberta man is facing charges in connection with a collision in Ontario that left a Quebec woman dead.

Police say the collision happened Monday night near Renfrew, west of Ottawa (on Highway 17).

It's alleged an eastbound pickup truck pulling a trailer went through a red light and struck a northbound car in the intersection.

The driver of the car, Deborah Smith, 46, of Campbell's Bay, Que., died at the scene.

The truck driver wasn't injured.

Denis Levy, 47, of Rainbow Lake, Alta., is charged with careless driving and failing to stop for a red light, and he will appear in court on Nov. 14.
