A woman's body has been found on Highway 401 in east-end Toronto, forcing a closure of all westbound express lanes in the area (just west of Brimley Road).
Paramedics say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at about 4:15 a.m.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the woman was struck by a transport truck and the driver remained on the scene.
Schmidt said a female pedestrian had been seen in the area prior to the accident.
The closure is causing major backups as Toronto-bound commuters are squeezed into the collector lanes.
Schmidt said the express lanes were expected to reopen at about 9 a.m.
