No one was injured when a plane doing a practice run for the Canadian National Exhibition air show in Toronto this weekend skidded off a runway into a ditch at Pearson International Airport.

Peel region police say the incident occurred when the plane's landing gear collapsed Friday afternoon.

Const. Thomas Ruttan says the two pilots on board weren't injured and the plane didn't catch fire.

Air show spokeswoman Colleen McCourt says the aircraft was out doing a practice run when the "minor incident" occurred.

She says the damage is still being assessed and it's not yet clear whether the plane could still fly as scheduled in the popular long weekend event.

The air show takes place on the city's waterfront.
