Police say a fire that caused an estimated $1.2 million dollars in damage to a cottage north of Barrie isn't considered suspicious.

Investigators say the blaze broke out Thursday night in Georgian Bay Township and totally engulfed the residence.

The cottage wasn't occupied at the time.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
