Peel Regional Police say a dog has been found safe and sound in Orangeville, Ont., after a truck was stolen from a Brampton parking lot with the dog inside.
The pickup was stolen Friday afternoon from a grocery store parking lot (at Queen St. and Highway 410) while the seven-year-old corgi named "Smidgie" was inside.
Police say an unidentified man in Orangeville, about an hour from the location of the theft, found the dog Friday night and took it home, thinking it had just been separated from its owner and he would return it in the morning.
A friend of the man recognized the dog from media reports and notified Peel Regional Police, who drove the owner to Orangeville to be reunited with the dog.
The investigation is ongoing into the stolen truck but police believe it could be in the region of where the dog was found. (The Canadian Press)
