Provincial police say a 70-year-old man is charged with careless driving following an investigation into a collision that killed one construction worker and seriously injured another.

They say two construction vehicles were parked on the south shoulder of Highway 17 west of Arnprior, Ont., on April 25 and two workers were on the shoulder of the road.

Investigators say a westbound Jeep crossed the centre line and struck both construction vehicles and the two workers, killing 42-year-old William Milton of Addington Highlands Township, Ont.

The other worker suffered serious injuries, while the male driver and female passenger in the Jeep were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

OPP say Richard Grant of Addington Highlands Township is to appear in Renfrew, Ont., court on Oct. 21.
