A man is in hospital after his car plummeted over the edge of a highway overpass in Mississauga and fell about 20 metres to the road below.

Provincial police say the driver lost control of the car, hit the guard rail and fell off a Highway 403 overpass.

The vehicle landed on its roof on the road below.

The driver was airlifted to hospital but police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Police are still investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash, which took place at about 1:30 a.m.
