A 78-year-old man has been charged in the death of his 83-year-old wife in Lefaivre, Ont., about 80 kilometres east of Ottawa.

Ontario Provincial Police and paramedics responded to a call about a dead woman (on Concession 1 near the Alfred-Plantagenet Township) on Jan. 25.

She has been identified as Zdenka Sekora.

Police determined her death was the result of foul play.

The woman's husband, Robert Edgar, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder.

He was remanded into custody and is due in court Monday.
