Ottawa police have charged a 45-year-old man with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a woman in the city.
Police say Gino Langevin is facing the charge in the death of 54-year-old Gail Fawcett.
Fawcett died in hospital after witnesses say they saw her being stabbed in the middle of a west-end Ottawa street Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the incident began in a home and spilled out onto the street, where a trail of blood was found.
The death is the city's fifth homicide of the year.
