A former Sarnia, Ont., fire chief has been convicted of 26 sexual assault related charges.

Pat Cayen was found guilty in Sarnia court on Friday afternoon.

Some of the victims looked on, clearly emotional, as Cayen was found guilty of 26 of 28 charges he faced.

Justice John Desotti set a sentencing date of April 24 for the 56-year-old, who was initially charged in November 2012.

A publication ban prohibits disclosure of the time frame and location of the offences as well as the identity of the victims.

Cayen's employment with the Sarnia fire department was terminated in January 2013.
