Police say a woman whose body was found at the scene of an apartment fire in Hamilton, Ont., on Sunday was killed by seven stab wounds.
They say firefighters were called to the scene, where they battled the blaze and later found Marilyn Mitton, 65, without vital signs inside the seventh-floor apartment.
Later that evening, 66-year-old Wayne Bell, who lived in the same building as Mitton, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Police say Mitton's cause of death was seven stab wounds to the torso.
They say that investigators believe Mitton was dead before the fire was started.
