A leak in the main municipal water supply has triggered a state of emergency in the town of Brighton, about 150 kilometres east of Toronto.
The water was shut off Saturday evening, and a boil water advisory was issued.
Bottled water was being handed out at the King Edward Park Community Centre, and portable toilets had also been set up there.
Public Health inspectors were closing all restaurants in Brighton until further notice, and an outdoor burn ban was also implemented for the municipality.
Repairs to the water main were expected to be completed later this morning.
