A London, Ont., man charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of his daughter made his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Andrew Bruce Hill, 38, was remanded into custody and is to make another court appearance on Friday.

Hill was barred from communicating with more than a dozen people, including his wife and three children.

The five-year-old girl remained listed in serious, but stable condition on Wednesday morning, the day after police say she was stabbed multiple times at the family's home.

Hill was arrested at the scene and charged later in the day with attempted murder.
