A 71-year-old Toronto man is facing charges after police say he sexually abused a boy decades ago while working as a counsellor at a group home north of Kingston, Ont.

Police say the boy was staying at the Sagamore Farm group home in Parham when the alleged incidents took place between 1977 and 1983.

He was 12 at the time.

Investigators say other incidents occurred in east Toronto during the same period.

William Robert Metcalfe, who goes by "Bob," was arrested Thursday.

He is charged with three counts of gross indecency and three of indecent assault.

He is due in court on Sept. 9.
