A 40-year-old Oakville, Ont., man is dead following a crash on Monday afternoon involving four vehicles.

Halton Region police say just before 1 p.m., the man was driving north on Third Line when he lost control of his car, struck the centre median and veered across the northbound lanes and hit a minivan from behind.

The minivan was pushed into a third vehicle stopped at a red light.

The man's car came to a stop by hitting a fourth vehicle which was also stopped at a red light.

The unidentified man died in hospital shortly after he arrived. Police say a pre-existing medical condition may have been a contributing factor in the crash and don't believe alcohol or speed were involved.

A second driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries while the remaining two drivers were not injured.
