Police are investigating a firearms-related death in the Oneida First Nation of the Thames.

Oneida First Nation police and provincial police responded to a call for assistance at about 3 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the First Nation territory southwest of London.

Inside, officers discovered the body of Carson Ireland, 66, a resident of the First Nation.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Provincial police say the investigation has revealed that a firearm was involved in the incident.

They are seeking a suspect described as a tall non-white male, wearing dark clothing and driving a light-coloured vehicle.

The Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit is conducting the investigation under the direction of Det.-Insp. Heidi Stewart of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
