Police say the charred remains found in a burned-out car north of Toronto last week belong to a Mississauga, Ont., man and two boys, aged 10 and four.

Samuel Masih, 36, and his sons were reported missing early last Friday by the children's mother after they failed to return from a movie.

Hours later, police were called to a car fire in Oro-Medonte Township, near Barrie, Ont., and discovered a vehicle containing the remains of three people.

Provincial police say post mortem exams conducted on Tuesday confirmed the identities of the bodies, but investigators say they are not releasing the identities of the children.

"Based on the information that's out there, you can draw the conclusion that those are his children. We haven't formally identified them out of respect," said Sgt. Peter Leon.

The case remains under investigation and police say they are not releasing how the three died.

Investigators aren't looking for suspects.

"We are not currently seeking out in terms of persons of interest. We're just trying to fill in the gaps in the investigative timeline," Leon said.

The OPP is asking anyone who saw any unusual activity in the area of Holick Road on July 3 or 4, 2014, to contact investigators.
