Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 28 shots and the Charlotte Checkers scored three times in the first period en route to a 6-1 victory over the Belleville Senators on Friday in American Hockey League play.
Nick Schilkey, Andrew Poturalski and Phil Di Giuseppe scored for Charlotte (7-3-0) in a four-minute span in the first. Warren Foegele, Valentin Zykov and Andrew Miller rounded out the offence.
Jim O'Brien had the lone goal for the Senators (5-5-1), who saw a three-game winning streak come to an end.
Danny Taylor started for Belleville and allowed five goals on 27 shots through 40 minutes. Andrew Hammond made 12-of-13 saves in the third period.
Neither team scored on the power play. The Checkers were 0 for 4 while Belleville was 0 for 1.
