An incident involving an ATV and two OPP officers on snowmobiles left the officers injured and a man facing a long list of charges.

The incident happened Sunday when the officers tried to stop an all-terrain vehicle near Baptiste Lake, northwest of Bancroft.

Police say the ATV collided with one of the snowmobiles, throwing and injuring an auxiliary officer, and the ATV driver fled the scene.

The other officer -- a uniform member of the Snowmobile, All-Terrain, Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Unit -- followed the fleeing ATV, trying to stop it.

It's alleged that the ATV driver then directed his vehicle at the second officer, striking him.

The ATV stopped a short time later and the driver was arrested.

Lyndon Pauze, 25, of Cardiff is facing seven charges, including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, aggravated assault on a peace officer, flight from police causing bodily harm and theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.

Both officers were treated in hospital for unspecified injuries and were released.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
