An Ottawa man and his former lover have been found guilty in the grisly murder of his wife two years ago.

The first-degree murder convictions handed down to Bhupinderpal Gill and Gurpreet Ronald today will see them serve automatic life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Prosecutors argued the pair plotted to kill Jagtar Gill, who was stabbed and bludgeoned to death in January 2014.

Jagtar Gill was found dead in the family home in the Barrhaven part of Ottawa.
