Peel Region police have reached a peaceful resolution in a standoff with one of their officers who they say was "in crisis."

The force says the off-duty officer was followed by a vehicle to Hamilton where negotiations then began.

Police had earlier tweeted the officer was going through a "crisis," but didn't offer details.

About two hours after the incident began Peel police announced it had ended peacefully.
