Ontario's police watchdog is investigating a fatal shooting in Port Perry.
The Special Investigations Unit says Durham Regional police officers were called to a house (on Waterbury Crescent) around 9:30 Saturday evening where they encountered a 59-year-old man.
The SIU says there was an interaction and the man was shot and he later died in hospital.
Durham police say an officer shot the man during the incident.
A nine member SIU team has been assigned to the case.
The SIU is automatically called in to review how police handle cases that involve death or serious injury.
