The Special Investigations Unit is probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old man in Timmins, Ont.
The police watchdog agency says Timmins police officers were called to a collision between a car and a pickup truck (Shirley Street and Sandy Falls Road) on Monday night.
Officers found the male driver of the car and his female passenger had sustained injuries, and the man was taken into custody and both were taken to hospital.
The SIU says the man was later pronounced dead in hospital.
The SIU is an arm's-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
