Officials say the number of forest fires across Ontario is significantly down so far this year, mainly due to high amounts of rainfall.
Ontario forestry officials say there are currently 66 forest fires burning in the northwest and 17 in the northeast.
Although the forest fire situation has been fairly quiet, the past week has seen several new fires due to lightning in the area.
Twelve new fires were discovered on Friday in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red lake, Thunder Bay and Sudbury.
Shayne McCool, a fire information officer, would like to remind the public to take extra precautions when planning a campfire.
Overall, there have been 335 fires across the province so far this summer, down from 545 the same time last year.
