A teacher at a high school north of Peterborough is facing an assault charge in connection with an alleged incident involving a student.
Police say a student at Lakefield District Secondary School alleged that the teacher assaulted him in early November by pushing a set of keys into the back of his neck in an attempt to make him comply.
The youth didn't report any physical injuries.
Myriam Leonard, 47, of Peterborough, is charged with assault with a weapon.
She is to appear in provincial court on Jan. 8.
An official with the Kawartha-Pine Ridge District School Board, Judy Malfara, says Leonard has been removed from classroom responsibilities, but wouldn't release further information.
