Durham police say alcohol may have played a factor when a 16-year-old boy was critically injured after falling out of a vehicle in his driveway and being run over.
Police say the teen put the family SUV in neutral while sitting in the driver's seat early today in the driveway of his Oshawa residence (in the Ritson Road and Conlin Road East area).
He tumbled out of the door and was subsequently run over by the rolling vehicle, which ended up on a median in the street.
Police say the boy sustained critical injuries.
He was taken to local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
