Toronto police say a 16-year-old boy suffered a dog bite while being apprehended by a canine unit in connection with numerous vehicle break-ins in the city's north end.
Officers took the teen into custody after police say at least 21 vehicles were ransacked in a parking lot (near the Don Valley Parkway and Highway 401) just after midnight Friday.
He was taken to hospital for treatment after being bitten by a police dog that was helping officers search for three suspects in connection with the break-ins.
Police say he was found with $20 worth of change in his pockets, allegedly stolen from the vehicles.
It's alleged the three suspects stole a set of golf clubs from one of the first vehicles that was broken into, and used it to smash the windows of other vehicles.
The teen, who is expected to face charges, cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police are continuing to search for the other two suspects.
