Homicide detectives are investigating after a cyclist was struck and killed by a van in downtown Toronto.

Police say the incident occurred around 6 p.m. Monday at Dundas and George Streets.

Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu says they are looking for the driver of a blue van the officers found shortly after the crash.

She says the man on the bicycle was pronounced dead at the scene, but his identity hasn't been released yet.

There have been 53 fatalities involving pedestrians and cyclists in Toronto this year.
