Trevor Moore scored the eventual winner in the first period and then the Toronto Marlies poured it on in a 4-1 win over the Utica Comets on Saturday afternoon in American Hockey League play.
Tobias Lindberg also had a goal in the first period for the Marlies (10-5-2), the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brendan Leipsic and Colin Smith scored in the second and third periods respectively, with Toronto putting 17 shots on net in the second period alone, more than doubling their eight in the first.
Jeff Glass made 22 saves for the win.
Cody Kunyk replied for Utica (7-10-1), the farm team of the Vancouver Canucks. Goaltender Michael Garteig stopped 31 shots.
The game was held at Air Canada Centre, instead of the Marlies' usual home of the Ricoh Coliseum.
Toronto was 1 for 6 on the power play and the Comets were 1 for 2 with the man advantage.
