Provincial police say two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of poppy donation boxes from two businesses in southern Ontario.
The boxes were stolen from a Tim Hortons and a Subway restaurant in Trenton, within a short time of each other on Wednesday.
Theresa Marcotte, 40, and James Patrick, 35, both of Trenton, have each been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 related to the poppy box thefts.
Marcotte is also charged with one count of theft under $5,000 in relation to the theft of an automobile in the area on Wednesday.
Patrick faces two additional counts of theft under $5,000 in connection with the theft of the car and merchandise taken from one of the businesses.
He's also charged with breaching a court order.
Patrick was being held for a bail hearing, while Marcotte was released from custody and is to appear in court in Belleville on Dec. 18.
