One of the five people charged after a native blockade on a bridge east of Belleville, Ont., last October has been sentenced.
About half a dozen protesters blocked the Skyway Bridge that connects the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory to Prince Edward County in eastern Ontario.
The 10-hour protest on Oct. 4 was designed to raise awareness of the issue of missing and murdered indigenous women.
Matthew Weldon, 24, of Tyendinaga pleaded guilty in Belleville court to mischief over $5,000, and was given a conditional discharge and placed on probation for 12 months.
A mischief charge against one of the other accused, Tiffany Simpson of Cannington, has been withdrawn.
The three other people, all Tyendinaga Territory men, are to return to court later this year to face the same charge.
