The union that represents many managers and professionals in Ontario's civil service has reached a tentative deal with the province after six months of bargaining.
AMAPCEO, or the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario, says it has come to a tentative agreement with the government.
The negotiations had been put on hold during the provincial election this summer, but AMAPCEO says 15 days of intensive mediated sessions between a bargaining team and the government led to the tentative deal.
AMAPCEO President Gary Gannage says the goal of the negotiations was to ensure that employees' "current rights were retained."
The union had received a 94-per-cent vote in favour of a strike in late March.
Bargaining Team Chair Dianne Colville said the efforts of an engaged membership allowed the bargaining team to "stand its ground against the employer's drastic proposals."
AMAPCEO represents 11,500 employees who work directly for the Ontario government.
