Some six-thousand employees at the University of Toronto have gone on strike.
The employees involved are teaching assistants, markers, graders and graduate student instructors.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents the employees, says it refused to send the university's latest offer to the membership to vote on.
CUPE spokeswoman Erin Black says the members are demanding a boost in their standard of living and say the university hasn't offered enough money.
The union says picket lines will go up around the three university campuses on Monday morning.
The university says all three campuses will remain open and most classes will continue.
