Valentin Zykov broke a 1-1 deadlock with 4:33 to play and the Charlotte Checkers went on to beat the Belleville Senators 2-1 on Saturday in American Hockey League play.
Phil Di Giuseppe tied the score for the Checkers (8-3-0) early in the third period.
Ethan Werek gave the Senators (5-6-1) a 1-0 lead in the first period.
Jeremy Smith made 21 saves for the win as Andrew Hammond stopped 33-of-35 shots in defeat.
Charlotte went 1 for 5 on the power play while Belleville failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
