A decision by a school board in Windsor, Ont., to lock up an outdoor basketball court at a local high school and demand a fee for use of the facility after hours has angered students and members of the community.

Vladimir Yousif says he and his friends showed up to the court at St. Joseph Catholic High School last Thursday to find a security guard, a school board member and two police officers.

Yousif says the youth were told they could no longer play basketball because of problems with vandalism.

He says the police officers also warned him and his friends that they'd be charged with trespassing if they snuck onto the court or broke the locks.

Windsor police say they do not have a report of the incident, but say reports aren't created for every single call officers respond to.

A superintendent with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board says they've also had problems with garbage on the court.

Mario Iatonna says those who want to use the court can get a permit if they sign a document saying they won't damage the property and pay a $5 fee.
