A 22-year-old woman has died from her injuries after an accident at a gold mine about 125 kilometres east of Timmins, Ont.

St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX:SAS) said in a statement that employee Alexie Dallaire-Vincent was fatally injured during what the company calls an "underground rail haulage accident" at its Holt Mine on Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the circumstances of Dallaire-Vincent's death along with the Ontario Ministry of Labour.

The company said it's co-operating with the investigation and providing support to family and employees at the mine site.

On its website, the company says it uses 4.5-tonne rail cars to transport ore through an underground jaw crusher.
