A man who was trapped in a well north of Toronto for several hours has been rescued — thanks to his young son.
York region police say the man fell into the well in Markham, Ont., around 10 p.m. Saturday (near Ninth Line and 14th Avenue) but managed to call out to his son.
From the bottom of the well the man told his son, aged 5 or 6, to go get help.
And the boy did just that, trying to stop passing motorists before ending up at a nearby home, with police then called in.
Emergency officials arrived at the scene and rescued the man.
He was taken to hospital for hypothermia and is expected to make a full recovery.
